In Romania social aid like family allowance and allowance for heating can be accessed by large families. The granting of financial measures is conditioned by income per family member.

There is no specific fiscal deductions for large families in Romania.
4. Which specific reduced prices on basic supplies for large families are in your country
Between January 2023 and June 2025, large families in Romania benefited from a special reduced electricity price, regardless of family income. To access this measure, families had to submit an application to their electricity supplier together with a declaration regarding the family structure.
Starting from July 2025, due to budgetary constraints, this support measure was significantly restricted and is now granted only to families whose income per family member falls below a legally established threshold.
5. Which specific benefits are provided by the large families card in your country
There is no card for large families in Romania at national level.
At local level, 5 municipalities developed large family card Sfantu Gheorghe, Targu Secuiesc, Miercurea Ciuc, Targu Mures and Brașov). The benefits for this card are: free residence parking, free municipality parking, 50% discount for cultural, sport and recreation. In order to receive the card families 3+ have to meet some criteria: no debts for local taxes, at least one parent working and the kids must attend kindergarten or school (depending by the age)To be eligible for the card, families with three or more children must meet certain criteria, such as having no outstanding local tax debts, having at least one parent in employment, and ensuring that children attend kindergarten or school, according to their age.

11. Regarding policies for large families at European level, please mark the measures you have in your country
- Reduced VAT for diapers and basic goods for children
- Unpaid care of children in the household and for other dependent family members is recognized as work when calculating the national GDP
- Permit for large families with 7 and more children to drive the family van without professional driving license
- Basic consumptions tariff: water, electricity, gas, etc. is calculated taking into consideration the number of children

Reduced VAT is only for diapers.
Water: Not reduced prices but in many municipalities there is tariff adjustment so that the family does not pay more for units of consumption than the other families.
